Hoopshigh Espy Awards 2011
HoopsHIGH is a student produced sports show and afterschool program. The progam is conpiled of two crews an apprentice crew- they learn the media introduction basics: Video/Audio introduction, PSA's, Media literacy and Intro to sports broadcasting. This crew produces PSA's and other commercial that runs throughout the HoopsHIGH sports show. The show airs Saturday nights at 8pm on CANTV in CHICAGO. The other crew is the advance crew. This crew is responsible for going into the field weekly and filming all the hottest Highschool games and sports related action in the city. The kids attend the program for about 11 months (Fall, Spring and Summer) At the end of the regular school year we award the youth for execellence in production by hosting an annual spring banquet. This years banquet was taking to a HIGHER HEIGHT as the program recently transition to a new coordinator. The first woman to hold this position in 10 years Ms. Rahkal Shelton. As her goal is to make a new mark and elevate the whole program. I wanted to do it red carpet style, awards, plaques and medals. This years theme was the HoopsHIGH ESPY's awards similar to ESPN's although ESPN stands for Excellence in Sports Performance Yearly I decided Excellence in Sports PRODUCTION Yearly. This gave the youth a chance to get dressed up, be awarded and broadcast their work to the families and other people in the community.
